Gladys M. Goodhart

Gladys M. Goodhart, 86, of Conestoga passed away Tuesday morning, April 18, 2017 at the Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness. Born on July 6, 1930 in Conestoga, she was the daughter of the late Thomas L. and Carrie M. Gebhard Kneisley. Gladys was the wife of Donald W. Goodhart who passed away on June 30, 1993. Gladys was a life time member of Conestoga United Methodist Church where she was very active in the United Methodist Women's Group, where she served as treasurer and she also taught Sunday School. Early in her life she worked for Hamilton Watch. Gladys was part of the day to day operations of the family business Goodhart's Meats for nearly 30 years. Gladys enjoyed reading biographies and doing word searches. Just recently she moved to Signature Senior Living and enjoyed playing Bingo. Gladys enjoyed fishing and spending time at their vacation home in Ocean City, Maryland. Gladys had a warm and welcoming personality. She loved her family and always claimed that "She didn't have any favorites". She enjoyed having her children and grandchildren over for the holidays and that was special to her. Gladys is survived by her daughters, Jean M. Hambleton of Conestoga, Donna L. Goodhart of Hellam, Elaine M., wife of Gilberto Vega of Lancaster and Linda J., wife of Frank Burklew of Lancaster; sons, Donald W., husband of Donna E. Goodhart of Conestoga and Robert T., husband of Michael F. Goodhart of Wilmington, DE. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lori, Jamie, Christina, Shawn, Gilberto, Justin, Ryan, Brandon and Megan; great grandchildren, Catarina, Liam, Garic, Joseph, and Mackayla. Gladys was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas and Michael Kneisley. The family would like to thank Signature Senior Living on Millersville Road, Lancaster for the great care and compassion showed to their mother during her stay with them. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Gladys' funeral service on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11AM from the Conestoga United Methodist Church, 71 Sandhill Road, Conestoga, PA with Rev. Dr. Richard Rimert officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 10 to 11AM. Interment will be held in the adjoining church cemetery.
