Marlin Albert Troup, Jr.

Marlin A. Troup, Jr., 69, of Washington Boro, passed away at home Saturday evening, May 10, 2014. Born in Lancaster on July 31, 1944, he was the son of the late Marlin A., Sr. and Elva M. Troup. He was the husband of Beatrice Breneman Troup, whom he married on September 30, 1972. Marlin was a 1962 Graduate of Penn Manor High School. While in school, he helped the farmers in the area. After graduation from high school, he worked for C.A. Regele Machine Shop, Lancaster from 1962-1980. He attended Thaddeus Stevens in the apprenticeship program to become a journeyman machinist from 1964-1967. He attended Penn State, York Campus in their Management Development School in the 1970's. He worked part time in the evenings for Huber Tool Company, Conestoga. He retired from Lancaster Mold, Inc. in 2008 after 28 years where he was a Machinist in the Plastic Injection Molding Department. Marlin enjoyed vegetable gardening, woodworking projects, refinishing furniture and minor gun repairs. He was a lifetime member of Highville United Methodist Church where he served as a Lay Leader, Treasurer, and Trustee. Family and friends were very important to Marlin, where he enjoyed hunting with his sons and their wives, spending time with his 3 grandchildren, and helping others wherever he could. Surviving in addition to his wife Bea, are sons, Jason M., husband of Amy Lynn of Holtwood and Nathan R., husband of Gretchen Ann of East Prospect. Grandchildren surviving are Felicity Ann, Avien C., and Lilly-An. He is survived by his sister, Brenda A. Miller, Lancaster and 9 nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by sisters, Grace Y. Newbert and Emma M. Rhome. Family and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Marlin's Funeral Services on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11 AM from the Highville United Methodist Church, 3327 River Road, Conestoga, PA 17516 with Pastor John R. Miller officiating. Friends will be received at the church Saturday morning beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be held in the adjoining Greenmount Cemetery.
