Nancy Y. Barley

Nancy Y. Barley, 89 of Conestoga, formerly of Millersville passed away at home with family by her side, Friday morning, May 2, 2025. Born in Lancaster on April 11, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Willis H. and Pauline E. Strubel Brenneman. She was the dedicated wife to Harold M. Barley, Jr., who preceded her in death on November 17, 2002. Nancy graduated from Penn Manor High School in 1954, she enjoyed attending her class reunions and staying in close contact with her classmates. Nancy attended the Reading Hospital School of Nursing. She was a caregiver for many family and friends throughout the years. She loved her job as a bus driver for Shultz Transportation, driving for over 36 years before retiring in 2016, at the age of 80. She loved the farm life in which she raised her children and made many memories with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nancy was truly the hands and feet of Jesus, showing his love through her daily actions. As a grandmother, she appreciated the opportunities she was given to speak words of love, wisdom and God's word to her grandchildren. Nancy cared deeply that her grandchildren would spend eternity with her. She currently was attending Grace Community Church in Willow Street and was a former member of Stehman Memorial UM Church in Millersville. She had a true passion for music, playing organ for Stehman UM and Grace EC Church for many years, along with New Providence Mennonite Church. Nancy was a humble and kind lady who always put others before her. She enjoyed scrapbooking and making greeting cards, watching the birds and reading when she was able. The best Mama ever, Nancy will be deeply missed by her son, Harold M., III, husband of Anna M. Barley of Millersville; daughters, Deborah J. Frey of Willow Street, Patricia A., wife of John E. "Jack" Texter of East Petersburg, J. Christine, wife of John M. Ressler of Lancaster, Nancy L., wife of Michael E. Nissly of Washington Boro and Tammy L., wife of S. Kevin Bauman of Conestoga. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chadd, Adam, Stephanie, Kyle, Heather, Jessica, Holly, Audrey, Ashlie, Austin, Erin, CJ, Kenny and Rebecca and 30 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Patsy L. Gerlach. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Nancy's funeral service on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 11AM from the Grace Community Church, 212 Peach Bottom Road, Willow Street. Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 10AM to 11AM. Private interment will be held in the Masonville Mennonite Cemetery, Washington Boro. Please omit flowers, memorial remembrances may be made in Nancy's memory to Grace Community Church.
