Nora N. Patterson

Nora N. Patterson, 79 of Chamblee, Georgia passed away at home, Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021. Born in Rural Valley, PA on October 20, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Dale S., Sr. and Ruth Harris Lias. She was the wife of Derek J. Patterson with who she married on May 11, 1963. Nomie as known by her family graduated in 1959 from Shannock Valley High School in Rural Valley, Pennsylvania. After high school, she attended Humboldt Institute in Minneapolis for Airline Stewardess training. She began working in the insurance field and become a licensed agent, she was last employed with John Lester Insurance in Dunwoody, Georgia. Nora was a loving mom, diligent wife, supportive sister, proud grandmother, irreplaceable friend, special aunt and cousin to many. She was very generous with her home, her time, and her cooking to neighbors and visitors. Nomie knew how to bring fun into everything she did from camping and canoeing, to candle lit dinners at home, to dancing at wedding and reunions, to making costumes for Halloween, if she was there she was always willing to help. She was like the energizer bunny. Nora attended Peachtree Corners Presbyterian Church. She loved helping at her church, especially in the nursery, loving all the new babies. She was a member of the Woman's circle and Sunday morning bible study group. There wasn't much she wouldn't try, she loved cooking, sewing, gardening, walks with Derek and her dog, meeting people everywhere she went, camping, sailing, reading and visiting family whenever she could. Nomie and Derek enjoyed the summers at their camp in Erie, Pennsylvania after retirement. She loved being able to see her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews over the summer. Nora loved her family and will be missed dearly by her husband, Derek; her daughters, Deborah Patterson Allen, wife of Mark Allen of Lake Jackson, Texas and Kimberly Patterson Keys, wife of Timothy Keys of Plano, Texas. She loved being a grandma and will be missed by her grandson, Gregory Keys, who she instilled the deep and abiding love of Jesus and her granddaughter, Rachael Keys, who carries her grandmother's sparkle and zest for life. Nomie will be missed by her brother, Richard H., husband of Betty Lias of Smicksburg, PA and her sisters, Margaret R. Seibert, Canton, OH, H. Patricia Slagle of Streetsboro, OH, Mary J. Slagle of Ford City, PA, Frances L., wife of John Hawkins of Kittanning, PA and Janet K. Fennell, of Fenelton, PA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James Carl, Dale S., Jr., William A., Donald W., and Robert D. Sr. Lias and her sister, Ellen Jean Gasperoni. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Nora's Memorial Service on Sunday, April 11, 2021 from her church, Peachtree Corners Presbyterian Church, 5918 Spalding Dr, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092. Friends will be received at the church from 1 to 3PM. Interment will be held in the Rural Valley Cemetery in Pennsylvania this summer. Memorial remembrances may be made in Nora's memory to Peachtree Corners Presbyterian Church.
