Clara Marie Stokes, 88, formerly of Pequea and Millersville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 5, 2019 at Manor Care Nursing and Rehab, Lebanon. Born on February 24, 1931 in Pequea Twp., Lancaster County she was the daughter of the late John W. and Mabel Eshelman Erb. She was the wife of J. Paul Stokes, Jr. with who she married on May 4, 1952. "Cackie" graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School in 1949. She was a member of Mt. Nebo UM Church. She was past president of the Rawlinsville Camp Ladies Auxillary and volunteered with Youth For Christ. Prior to marriage, she worked at Armstrong. She attended all the Lancaster markets for the family business J.Paul Stokes, Sr. and Son Butcher Shop, Mt. Nebo. She loved to make Christmas Cookies. She worked as a sales clerk for Watt & Shand and then for Bon Ton. Cackie also worked in housekeeping for Willow Valley. In addition to her husband, Paul, Clara is survived by her son, Stephen P. husband of Charlene A. Stokes of Lebanon; daughters, Sandy L. Salamh of Pequea and Susan M. Nuss of Flint, MI, along with 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. Clara was preceded in death by her son, Scott A. Stokes and sisters, Anna Sigman, Lillian Banzhof, Ada White and Margaret Gainer. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Clara's funeral services on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 3PM from the Mt. Nebo UM Church, 673 Martic Heights Dr., Pequea, PA with Pastor Chandler Evans officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 2 to 3PM. Interment will be held in the adjoining church cemetery. Please omit flowers, memorial remembrances may be made in Clara's memory to the Rawlinsville Camp Ladies Auxillary, 525 Drytown Road, Holtwood, PA 17532.
