Jacob Frederick Rieker

J. Frederick Rieker, 91 of Lancaster passed away at his home unexpectedly on Sunday, January 2, 2022. Born in Lancaster on January 17, 1930, he was the son of the late Jacob Z. and Pauline Fickes Rieker. He was the husband of Barbara Eshelman who preceded him in death. Fred graduated from J. P. McCaskey High School. Fred served in the United States Coast Guard. Jacob Rieker Wholesale Meats on Vine Street was his family's business, he worked in the family business until it was sold. He then worked for over 30 years for Thompson Corp., as a machinist, retiring in 1997. He enjoyed lighthouses, gardening, reading, cats and swimming. He enjoyed tinkering with machines and motors. Fred is survived by his grandson, Cody A. Rieker of Tacoma, Washington. He was preceded in death by his son, David F. Rieker and his brother, John E. Rieker. Family and friends are respectfully invited to Fred and Dave's graveside service on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 2PM from the Conestoga Memorial Park, 95 Second Lock Road, Lancaster with Reverend Timothy Mentzer officiating where military honors will be accorded for Fred.
